The Toxic Avenger (2023) tells the semi-cliche story of the evil businessman whose actions are not community-oriented, but merely self-oriented. The toxic byproduct he produces turns a random citizen of the city into a monster, like magnified versions of the businessman’s henchmen, rock band, and family. Losing his family to horror, the man must take a horrible revenge on the businessman.
It’s, in some ways, very ancient Greek, yet very giggly.
The style reminds me a bit of The Suicide Squad (2021) in its amiable acceptance of blatantly mutant people, working out the consequences and how to connect them to human evil. If you liked that, you might like this.
