That Was A Diet Of Fast Sugars

Given the American economic status, Trump’s War, and a myriad of other factors, this should not be surprising:

Fox News averaged 4.3 million viewers Tuesday [Election Day] night during primetime coverage, 8 p.m.-11 p.m. Eastern. That number reached 4.7 million viewers when combined with sister channel Fox Business Network. But the number was sharply down from 2022, when Fox News led all networks with an audience of nearly 7.5 million. That night, Republicans regained the House of Representatives during the Biden administration. [Washington Examiner]

Given how the Fox News had allied itself, for more than a decade, with Donald J. Trump and his pack of grifters, extremists, and assorted ne’er-do-wells we call the Republican Party, the mess they’ve arrogantly produced and lied about incessantly, a big chunk of the Fox News audience has learned that listening only to news that plays to their preconceptions is an embarrassing and expensive mistake.

I expect Fox News is going to experience a sharp drop off in audience share that will not be reversed any time soon. This won’t be because President Trump is mad at them (“FoxNews Ratings are way down (27%!) because they’re spending too much time covering the Trump Deranged Dumocrats! All of those people who used to watch Fox, and no longer do, get it,” Trump said …), either.

It’s because trafficking in people who lie has no good ending. It’s like a diabetic consuming way too many fast sugars, first you feel great, but the backlash is a real bummer.
