Thorough readers may recall my semi-facetious suggestions, in this post<\/a>, that President Trump’s actions regarding certain Republicans are part of a false flag operation<\/em>, which is to say Trump is actually a Democrat in disguise, working to destroy the Republicans.<\/p>\n

Perhaps I should say completely facetious.<\/p>\n

But\u00a0 now the semi-legendary Democratic strategist James Carville has weighed in:<\/p>\n

On\u00a0a Thursday episode<\/a>\u00a0of his \u201cPolitics War Room\u201d podcast, Carville and co-host Al Hunt discussed Trump\u2019s controversial statements regarding Iran potentially striking Los Angeles and San Diego, prompting the strategist to ask if the president \u201ctrying to lose.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, there\u2019s nothing that he does that\u2019s consistent with trying to win, and [there\u2019s] probably not much he can do. He is the central issue in the campaign, he dominates everything. But I got to keep asking: Is he trying to do this? Does he just want to screw the congressional Republicans? Does he hate them?\u201d Carville said. [The Hill<\/strong><\/a>]<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\"\"<\/a>Nice to see Trump’s behavior called out as puzzling by someone else.<\/p>\n

And, yes, he may hate congressional Republicans. But, look, Trump is a near-iconic example of hyper-individualism<\/em>, out only for himself and, maybe, for loyal family members. If he perceives screwing a “fellow” Republican as profitable for himself, he’ll do it – because, in his mind, there is no “fellow.”<\/p>\n

Add in a bit of dementia, a bit of raw fury that someone dares challenge him, and his drive to be the best in God’s eye – see Chad Bauman<\/a> – and his behavior becomes sensible.<\/p>\n
