The top prosecutor leading\u00a0a wide-ranging conspiracy investigation<\/a> into President Donald Trump\u2019s political foes resigned Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Joseph diGenova \u2014 a Trump loyalist who has pushed a baseless theory that the FBI was out to get Trump during his 2016 campaign \u2014 told The Washington Post that he has submitted his resignation papers to Attorney General Todd Blanche amid disagreements over the pace of the investigation. [WaPo<\/strong><\/a>]<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Asked whether he had lost focus, diGenova dismissed the accusation and shot back: \u201cIf you want indictments where there\u2019s no evidence, you have an ethical problem.\u201d [New York Post<\/strong><\/a>]<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But what catches my interest is a WaPo<\/strong><\/em> statement that ties into the President’s apparent mental illness:<\/p>\n

The investigation, which is based in Florida, hinges\u00a0on an unusual and untested legal theory<\/a>: that previous administrations conspired for years to violate Trump\u2019s rights through a series of investigations, beginning with the Obama administration\u2019s scrutiny of ties between Russia and the 2016 Trump campaign.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\"\"<\/a>Of importance is not the alleged violation of Trump’s rights, but the attempt to suppress a man who considers himself so special that only he can … pick your problem<\/strong>. Stop the Iranians, fix the deficit, suppress inflation, oh, any of a number of examples.<\/p>\n

In short, his delusions of grandeur<\/em> are enhanced if he can find evidence that others in seats of powers tried to stop him, but he was too smart for them and became President anyways.<\/p>\n

This, to my mind, is part & parcel of his mental decline and fall, an ego-enhancing fantasy which he’s convinced must be true because … that makes him greater. In this age of Trump failing at everything he attempts, it’s a necessary boost to his ego.<\/p>\n

And will be reiterated over and over and over by right wing drama queens. It’s an emblem of that greatness denied all of them by the powers of darkness.<\/p>\n
