All that fabulism to convey to my reader yet another finding that I think President Trump’s just denying these days:<\/p>\n

Amid\u00a0President Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0record-low approval ratings nationally, a\u00a0new YouGov\/Economist projection<\/a>\u00a0shows the president’s net\u00a0job approval is negative<\/a>\u00a0in all but three states.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0The Economist and YouGov<\/a>, more people disapprove than approve of Trump\u2019s job performance in 47 out of 50 states and in the District of Columbia. The three states where the majority of respondents still approve of the president are Wyoming (+14), Idaho (+9), and West Virginia (+6).\u00a0 [USA Today<\/strong><\/a>]<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Does he<\/strong> think he’s in trouble?<\/p>\n

President Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0said the Republican base is angry at the party’s leadership in Congress, not him, as he expressed concern about whether his core voters will turn out in the November midterm elections without him on the ballot.<\/p>\n

“At lot of them are very angry at Republicans, to be honest with you,” Trump said in an\u00a0interview with Punchbowl News<\/a>. “They’re angry at Republicans, but they’re not angry at me.” [USA Today<\/strong><\/a>]<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

President\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a> might be hurting his party\u2019s chances of winning the midterm elections by focusing campaign ads on himself, according to a new report.<\/p>\n

The Atlantic<\/a>\u00a0reported on Tuesday that Trump\u2019s team met earlier this month to discuss how to spend the president\u2019s $400 million war chest ahead of the midterm elections. Numerous polls have shown Democrats with a slight advantage over Republicans, with many analysts\u00a0citing Trump\u2019s low approval numbers<\/a>\u00a0as a problem for the GOP. WHERE’S THE BEEF?<\/strong><\/p>\n

That may turn out to be a serious question. In the last Campaign Update<\/strong> I mentioned<\/a> an announcement of a remission of tariffs<\/em> that, ah, angered beef ranchers in Nebraska, as well as other States. But now there’s speculation that no such remission will take place<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The bottom line is unsettling but simple: The incumbent president often just \u2026 says stuff. Maybe he intends to do what he says, maybe he just enjoys making declarations that sound good in his mind or maybe he tries to follow through but can’t find officials willing to go along with his weird schemes. Trump may have made an unforced error and stumbled into a trap. If he’s remitting those specific tariffs then much of the beef industry is angered. If he doesn’t he’s either lying or having another fit of dementia. Neither looks good.<\/p>\n
