No doubt my reader has heard a bit of the Reflecting Pool<\/em> debacle, in which President Trump handed a favored company to fix some long-standing problems with this national memorial and only made it worse.<\/p>\n

But then this occurred:<\/p>\n

When the Lincoln Memorial\u2019s Reflecting Pool was replenished this month after a\u00a0$14 million-plus\u00a0<\/b>renovation<\/a>, ducks quickly took to the water. Tourists delighted at the sight of ducklings paddling through the pool.<\/p>\n

But then, over the weekend: a disturbing discovery.<\/p>\n

A duck carcass was photographed floating in the algae-filled water<\/a>, days after the \u201cAmerican Flag Blue<\/a>\u201d paint began\u00a0peeling off the bottom of the pool<\/a>. [WaPo<\/strong><\/a>]<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

With all due respect to the ducks, I think President Trump is a dead duck.<\/p>\n

And this incident may crystallize the national realization, moreso than Trump’s Lost War<\/em>, of this necessity. Trumpism, as a philosophy or ideology, is simply a disaster that attracts disease-carrying flies to whatever it touches.<\/p>\n
