I had read her novel, <em>The Violent Bear It Away<\/em>, years ago, but either forgot her gift for writing a simple sentence that affects all out of scale, or she does not employ that talent in her fiction. I am fascinated, whatever might be the case.<\/p>\n<p>If my readers decide my prose has improved, credit Miss O&#8217;Connor and not myself.
