Conservative critics who succumb to moral-panic attacks over such questions insist that Gorey\u2019s sexuality was his own affair. Who gives a\u00a0stuffed fantod<\/a>\u00a0whether the man was gay, asexual or, as he put it, \u201cneither one thing nor the other particularly\u201d? The answer, obviously, is: anyone who loves his work. Whatever Gorey was, his art is \u201cculturally queer,\u201d as the critic\u00a0J. Bryan Lowder<\/a> would say, to the tips of its ornately ringed fingers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n
