In this post<\/a>, I mentioned replacing the current Parties as a solution to current political dilemmas, and it appears a few other people are having the same thought. Let’s have WaPo<\/strong><\/em><\/a> summarize the strategy of Independent Center<\/strong><\/em><\/a>:<\/p>\n

Their objective is both relatively small and, in terms of impact, potentially massive.<\/p>\n

Rather than trying to run a third-party presidential campaign that would require billions of dollars and untold resources to get ballot access in all 50 states, they hope to win up to a handful of House races with centrist candidates who will not accept support from either major party.<\/p>\n

In this era of such narrow margins, that might deny Republicans and Democrats the 218 votes needed for the majority and create a protracted negotiation for a coalition government.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to that new center. So I will say that people are scared of this being a spoiler. Yes, we\u2019re trying to wreck the system. We\u2019re trying to disrupt the entire duopoly,\u201d Brandon said during Thursday\u2019s video call.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But for what do they stand?<\/p>\n

The Independent Center is founded on the core beliefs of enhancing individual freedom and personal choice. We trust the people of our country to decide what is right and good and important. We believe that people flourish when our system of government allows them to choose what is best for themselves, their families, and their communities. And we know that our nation will succeed and thrive when we work together to achieve\u00a0economic growth<\/strong>,\u00a0fiscal responsibility<\/strong>, and\u00a0social tolerance<\/strong> so we can enjoy a happy, safe and prosperous future.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Looking over the balance of the agenda, it has a definite Republican tilt. For example:<\/p>\n

\u2666 that individual creativity and innovation are the drivers of economic growth in our country. We embrace new technologies and innovations to advance our economy and improve our living standards. We can ensure that future generations inherit a more abundant, stronger and more secure nation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

New technologies?<\/em> I hope they’re not hiding cryptocurrencies behind that expansive phrase.<\/p>\n

Finally, the use of the phrase common-sense<\/em>, as I’ve noted before, is a big red-flag when it comes from politicians<\/a>. Common-sense, when applied to a nation of 300+ million, is a mythical attribute, and those spouting proposals defended by claims of common-sense should be ignored – and ejected from the profession.<\/p>\n

Independent Center<\/strong><\/em> is chock-full of such claims. Here’s the title of their solutions section:<\/p>\n
