{"id":39075,"date":"2023-08-08T21:54:00","date_gmt":"2023-08-09T02:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/?p=39075"},"modified":"2023-08-08T21:54:00","modified_gmt":"2023-08-09T02:54:00","slug":"fringing-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2023\/08\/08\/fringing-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Fringing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another night of Fringing at the <em><strong>Minnesota Fringe Festival<\/strong><\/em> yielded<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/minnesotafringe.org\/shows\/2023\/uncle-walt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Uncle Walt<\/strong><\/em><\/a> involves the second coming of Walt Disney, and the guys who might provide him a body. Unfortunately, two of the actors weren&#8217;t up to the task, leaving Uncle Walt to carry the load.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/minnesotafringe.org\/shows\/2023\/monster-science-s-greatest-hits#tickets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Monster Science<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, in which each performance by the Rev Matt is a reprise of a different show from previous years. The Rev Matt might have practiced a bit more, but this show, on Millicent Patrick and her role as designer of The Creature from <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Creature_from_the_Black_Lagoon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Creature From The Black Lagoon<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (1954), along with other tidbits and general notes on the monster movies of the &#8217;50s, makes it all worthwhile.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/minnesotafringe.org\/shows\/2023\/too-many-notes#tickets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Too Many Notes<\/strong><\/em><\/a> is the Fringiest of the Fringe shows we&#8217;ve seen this year. A storytelling, it is an original horror\/fable. The language is quite stylized, but the storyteller exhibited good stamina, as I did not detect a glitch. Unfortunately, I am unaccustomed to this sort of performance and didn&#8217;t gain the immediate focus necessary to fully appreciate such a story; as it was, when I did manage to attain proper focus, the story was quite mysterious, and sometimes the motivations of the characters not always clear, but there&#8217;s nothing wrong with that.
