When it comes to the notorious Rep Santos<\/a> (R-NY), last week it was revealed that:<\/p>\n

Politico published\u00a0<\/a>an audio recording of part of Santos\u2019s conversation with a judge during an arraignment for Gustavo Ribeiro Trelha, whom Santos told the judge was a family friend. Trelha later pleaded guilty to fraud, went to jail and was deported to Brazil, Politico reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo what do you do for work?\u201d King County Superior Court Judge Sean P. O\u2019Donnell says in the recording of the May 15, 2017, arraignment hearing for Trelha.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI am an aspiring politician and I work for Goldman Sachs,\u201d Santos is heard to reply.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou work for Goldman Sachs in New York?\u201d O\u2019Donnell says.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cYup,\u201d Santos replies.<\/p>\n

It was a lie Santos would repeat five years later as he campaigned for Congress, and one of many parts of his biography that reporters found to be fabricated<\/a>. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in November, but his r\u00e9sum\u00e9 has unraveled since. Though he temporarily\u00a0stepped down\u00a0<\/a>from House committees, Santos has rebuffed calls to resign and\u00a0has not been pushed\u00a0<\/a>to do so by Republican leaders.
