Evapotranspiration<\/em>:<\/p>\n

Evapotranspiration<\/b>\u00a0(ET<\/b>) is a term used to refer to the combined processes by which water moves from the earth\u2019s surface into the\u00a0atmosphere<\/a>. It covers both water\u00a0evaporation<\/a>\u00a0(movement of water to the air directly from soil,\u00a0canopies<\/a>, and water bodies) and\u00a0transpiration<\/a>\u00a0(movement of water from the soil, through roots and bodies of vegetation, on leaves and then into the air). Evapotranspiration is an important part of the local\u00a0water cycle<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0climate<\/a>, as well as measurement of it plays a key role in\u00a0agricultural irrigation<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0water resource management<\/a>.
