As well as affecting air quality, this rainfall-induced haze may help to seed clouds and generate more rain. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>So how does rain get particles aloft? Once rainfall starts to puddle, it dissolves organic matter from the soil. \u201cSplashing of subsequent raindrops creates air bubbles, which rise upwards and burst, ejecting a fine mist of organic matter, which then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=3XgHjpQtouA&amp;feature=youtu.be\" data-rel=\"lightbox-video-0\">dries into tiny solid spherical balls<\/a>,\u201d explains [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.emsl.pnl.gov\/emslweb\/people\/alexander-laskin\">Alexander Laskin<\/a>].
