I&#8217;m not sure Steve Benen, from where I&#8217;m taking this, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/rachel-maddow-show\/maddowblog\/trump-not-quite-done-talking-smart-putin-rcna21799\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">actually realizing that<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"\">A couple of weeks before Election Day 2020, the then-U.S. president thought it\u2019d be a good idea to boast about how much more authoritarians prefer him to his rival. \u201cThe only thing I can tell you for sure President Xi from China, President Putin from Russia, Kim Jong-un [from] North Korea, and I could name 40 others \u2014 they\u2019re sharp as a tack, they don\u2019t want to deal with Sleepy Joe,\u201d Trump\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/rachel-maddow-show\/maddowblog\/obama-asks-why-trump-bragging-about-support-dictators-n1244958\">said<\/a>\u00a0at the time.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In the face of the disaster of Putin&#8217;s War, if those autocrats of Trump&#8217;s favor are really that smart, yeah, they&#8217;d rather deal with Trump, rather than hard-as-nails President Biden.
