Typically, the rationale behind returning the\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Riparian\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Riparian\">riparian<\/a>\u00a0environment of a stream, wash, or river to a more natural state is to reduce runoff, create habitat for species in need of it, or improve an area&#8217;s\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Aesthetic\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Aesthetic\">aesthetics<\/a>.
