{"id":34833,"date":"2021-12-16T17:02:28","date_gmt":"2021-12-16T23:02:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/?p=34833"},"modified":"2021-12-16T17:02:28","modified_gmt":"2021-12-16T23:02:28","slug":"dancing-in-napalm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2021\/12\/16\/dancing-in-napalm\/","title":{"rendered":"Dancing In Napalm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Mediaite<\/strong><\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/news\/watch-stunning-debate-moment-when-hugh-hewitt-asks-5-gop-candidates-if-joe-biden-won-2020-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">catches<\/a> Minnesota gubernatorial candidates in the act of a <em>very difficult dance<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Conservative radio host\u00a0<strong>Hugh Hewitt<\/strong>\u00a0kicked off a Republican gubernatorial debate by asking all five candidates if President\u00a0<strong>Joe Biden<\/strong>\u00a0won the 2020 election, and got a torrent of word salad in response.<\/p>\n<p>Hewitt was among the moderators Wednesday night for the Minnesota Republican gubernatorial\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=CKWZ4SoTsOo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">debate<\/a>\u00a0between candidates Dr.\u00a0<strong>Scott Jensen<\/strong>, State Senator\u00a0<strong>Paul Gazelka<\/strong>, State Senator\u00a0<strong>Michelle Benson<\/strong>, Dr.\u00a0<strong>Neil Shah<\/strong>, and Mayor\u00a0<strong>Mike Murphy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In what could become a defining characteristic of GOP debates going forward, Hewitt\u2019s first question sent each of the candidates into what can only be described as a game of verbal Twister.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn your opinion, did President Biden win a constitutional majority of the Electoral College? If yes, how definitive is your conclusion, and if no, could you please explain which states you think are in dispute,\u201d Hewitt asked Jensen (apparently speaking from a part of Minnesota that has not yet been reached by the invention of the microphone).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know. I don\u2019t know. And I think that you have to take that attitude towards 2020,\u201d Jensen replied, then launched into a lengthy response in which he promoted several types of voting restrictions.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s not surprising, of course, but you hope for better from the local crop of politicos. But, no, being a leader sometimes means being alone, and the herd, in the Republican case, is far more important to these candidates than getting the issue right.<\/p>\n<p>Getting it right means either presenting convincing evidence of electoral malfeasance, or accepting the result unambiguously and with a good attitude.
