The idea of immunity from vaccination, which had been taught to me as a binary, and the reality of the situation, in which taking the vaccine may not completely prevent infection, but does suppress symptoms to a variable extent, has been bugging me for months. While WaPo<\/strong><\/em> documents definitions that don’t support what I was taught, I still have mixed feelings, and wonder if they should have started out with some other bit of medical terminology which would have better suited the situation.<\/p>\n

Except, of course, they were trying<\/em> for complete immunity.<\/p>\n

Bah, humbug<\/a>:<\/p>\n

… the CDC had updated a definition of \u201cvaccination\u201d on one of its webpages. As of late August<\/a>, the page described vaccination as \u201cThe act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce\u00a0immunity\u00a0<\/b>to a specific disease\u201d (emphasis\u00a0<\/b>ours). The definition has since been changed\u00a0from producing \u201cimmunity\u201d to producing \u201cprotection.\u201d<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Naturally, the whack-jobs came out, as if on cue:<\/p>\n
