College is the place where these students can finally feel open and present as their true selves. Preferred names are one way that these students take control of their situation. SCAD forces students to have students IDs with trans students dead names on them rather than giving the option to put their preferred name on their IDs. This not only emotionally harms these students but puts them at risk and opens up doors for misgendering and deadnaming.
