Kansas is off & running in the anti-vote race:<\/p>\n
\nThe League of Women Voters of Kansas and other nonprofits are suspending voter registration drives for fear of criminal prosecution under a new state law.<\/p>\n
The groups\u00a0filed a lawsuit<\/a>\u00a0over new election-related restrictions enacted by the Legislature this session, and a judge has yet to act on a request for a temporary injunction to block enforcement of the laws until the case is resolved. One of the provisions makes it a crime to engage in activity that \u201cgives the appearance of being an election official.\u201d<\/p>\n
Without clarity from the court, the organizations argue in court filings, there is a \u201cserious risk\u201d that someone will mistake people who are knowledgeable about voter registration as election officials.<\/p>\n
Jacqueline Lightcap, co-president of the League of Women Voters of Kansas, says she has asked the organization\u2019s nine local leaders to temporarily suspend their voter education and registration efforts.\u00a0 [Kansas Reflector<\/strong><\/a>]<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nFILE A COMPLAINT THAT I’M AN ELECTION OFFICIAL AND I’LL HAVE YOU IN CRIMINAL COURT FOR FALSELY REPORTING A CRIME.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
And then run your damn event. Any whining from legislators about the event, pray for it? The reply, broadcast in news reports, should be:<\/p>\n
