The movie suffers from being too long, and too “Hollywood.” Borgnine is too charismatic if not too good looking for the role. Also I like the feel of the teleplays from that era, which were broadcast live, warts and all. Feels more “real.”<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I look forward to finding time to see it. Although I wonder that Rod Steiger doesn’t come across as charismatic. I actually found Ernest’s performance, when his mouth takes off and drags him along, as being almost repulsive in some ways.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
