{"id":32201,"date":"2021-02-17T19:46:50","date_gmt":"2021-02-18T01:46:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/?p=32201"},"modified":"2021-02-17T19:46:50","modified_gmt":"2021-02-18T01:46:50","slug":"earl-landgrebe-award-nominee-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2021\/02\/17\/earl-landgrebe-award-nominee-16\/","title":{"rendered":"Earl Landgrebe Award Nominee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Or, rather, <em>plural<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A week ago, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis revealed she opened a criminal investigation into former President Donald Trump\u2019s attempts to overturn the election.<\/p>\n<p>A day later, a group of Georgia Senate Republicans sought to make future investigations of election fraud a statewide affair.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Resolution 100 calls for a constitutional amendment that would require a statewide grand jury for \u201cany crime involving voting, elections, or a violation of the election laws of this state and all related crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That would mean that Willis or other local prosecutors would have to empanel a grand jury from beyond their territories, drawing in more residents from rural, conservative corners of the state.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation, which boasts 25 GOP co-sponsors, is unlikely to pass.
