This election, the Navajo had a 97% voter turnout. President-elect Joe Biden won the three counties that overlap the Navajo Nation with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/navajotimes.com\/rezpolitics\/election-2020\/arizona-flips-navajos-contribute-to-historic-shift\/\" data-analytics-module=\"body_link\" data-analytics-post-depth=\"60\">73,954 votes<\/a>. President Donald Trump received a mere 2,010 votes.<\/p>\n<p>Most precincts located on the Tohono O&#8217;odham Nation were above\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hcn.org\/articles\/indigenous-affairs-how-indigenous-voters-swung-the-2020-election\" data-analytics-module=\"body_link\" data-analytics-post-depth=\"60\">90%<\/a>\u00a0for Biden, and the territories of the Hualapai, Havasupai, White Mountain Apache, Gila River, San Carlos Apache, Pascua Yaqui, Cocopah and Colorado River Tribes were\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hcn.org\/articles\/indigenous-affairs-how-indigenous-voters-swung-the-2020-election\" data-analytics-module=\"body_link\" data-analytics-post-depth=\"60\">70-90%<\/a>\u00a0for Biden. Biden currently leads in Arizona by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wusa9.com\/elections-2020-map\" data-analytics-module=\"body_link\" data-analytics-post-depth=\"60\">11,935 votes<\/a>\u00a0with 98% of the votes tallied \u2014 a margin slimmer than the Native voter turnout.<\/p>\n<p>Tribes in Arizona also helped\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/navajotimes.com\/rezpolitics\/election-2020\/arizona-flips-navajos-contribute-to-historic-shift\/\" data-analytics-module=\"body_link\" data-analytics-post-depth=\"60\">flip<\/a>\u00a0an Arizona Senate seat from red to blue as former astronaut Mark Kelly unseated Republican incumbent Martha McSally.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hopkins points out that similar results apply in Wisconsin. I hope the Biden Administration begins the hard work of straightening out relations between the Native nations and the United States, which have been screwed up and murderous since before the United States came into being. The recent <strong>SCOTUS<\/strong> decision <a href=\"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2020\/07\/19\/that-win-for-minorities-ctd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">regarding criminal jurisdiction<\/a> in Oklahoma is a start.
