{"id":3104,"date":"2016-01-27T20:59:40","date_gmt":"2016-01-28T02:59:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/?p=3104"},"modified":"2016-01-27T20:59:40","modified_gmt":"2016-01-28T02:59:40","slug":"belated-movie-reviews-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2016\/01\/27\/belated-movie-reviews-21\/","title":{"rendered":"Belated Movie Reviews"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We slurped up <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/One_Mysterious_Night\" target=\"_blank\">ONE MYSTERIOUS NIGHT<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (1944) last night, an installment in the old Boston Blackie series. \u00a0The lead, performed by Chester Morris, has an adequate charisma and patter; his partner, &#8220;The Runt&#8221;, is rather less well used. The police are adequate but not marvelous, as are the various supporting roles.<\/p>\n<p>The plot is rather light and fluffy; when one character bites the dust, it carefully never lets us see his sister, as this would require adding a bit of gravity to an otherwise cotton candy like movie, and we all know what happens when cotton candy is asked to support anything more than helium.<\/p>\n<p>And the dialogue never quite achieves the patter of, say, <em><strong>THE THIN MAN<\/strong><\/em>.
