{"id":28872,"date":"2020-06-01T18:49:03","date_gmt":"2020-06-01T23:49:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/?p=28872"},"modified":"2020-06-01T18:49:03","modified_gmt":"2020-06-01T23:49:03","slug":"the-2020-senate-campaign-kansas-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2020\/06\/01\/the-2020-senate-campaign-kansas-2\/","title":{"rendered":"The 2020 Senate Campaign: Kansas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2020\/04\/25\/the-2020-senate-campaign-kansas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kansas<\/a>, one of the two candidates that the Kansas <em><strong>GOP<\/strong><\/em> had been urging to drop out in order to more effectively coalesce opposition to former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach (R-KS) around Rep Roger Marshall (R-KS) has, in fact, dropped out:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Kansas Senate President Susan Wagle said Thursday that she will not run for the U.S. Senate, citing \u201cpersonal and political trials\u201d in the last year for her decision.<\/p>\n<p>Wagle announcement also indicated that she would not seek reelection to the Kansas Senate. The filing deadline is Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The decision leaves U.S. Rep. Roger Marshall and former Secretary of State Kris Kobach as the primary candidates for the GOP nomination for the seat.\u00a0<em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/news\/article243066836.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Kansas City Star<\/strong><\/a>]<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Overland Park Republican Dave Lindstrom is still vying in the Republican primary. However, I think Rep.
