I find myself reading an article on Singapore experiencing a second spike in <strong>COVID-19<\/strong> infections:<\/p>\n<div class=\"el__leafmedia el__leafmedia--sourced-paragraph\">\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"zn-body__paragraph speakable\">Less than a month ago, Singapore was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/03\/13\/opinions\/coronavirus-what-the-us-can-learn-from-singapore-hk-bociurkiw\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">being hailed<\/a>\u00a0as one of the countries that had got its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.medrxiv.org\/content\/10.1101\/2020.02.21.20026435v6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">coronavirus response<\/a>\u00a0right.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p>Encouragingly for the rest of the world, the city-state seemed to have suppressed cases without imposing the restrictive lockdown measures endured by millions elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>And then the second wave hit, hard. Since March 17, Singapore&#8217;s number of confirmed coronavirus cases grew from 266 to over 5,900,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/coronavirus.jhu.edu\/map.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according to data from Johns Hopkins University<\/a>.\u00a0<em>[<strong>CNN<\/strong>]<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Meanwhile, I have this video playing on <strong><em>YouTube<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Pail from The Carol Burnett Show (full sketch)\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Uiry1_k1Zog?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Yep, that&#8217;s Carol Burnett and Harvey Korman screaming at each other over a childhood incident involving a pail.<\/p>\n<p>My sense of what&#8217;s appropriate just went diving out the window.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just a little too weird.
