From the <a style=\"outline-width: 0px !important; user-select: auto !important;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.donaldjtrump.com\/media\/trump-campaign-sues-tv-station-over-ad-with-manipulated-audio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>Trump Campaign<\/strong><\/em> press release<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. today filed a lawsuit against WJFW-NBC of Rhinelander, WI for defamation in the wake of an advertisement carried by the station that contained intentionally false and defamatory statements about President Trump. The ad produced by Priorities USA, a super PAC supporting Joe Biden\u2019s candidacy, and broadcast by WJFW-NBC, used digitally manipulated clips of President Trump\u2019s voice to fabricate unsubstantiated meaning in the President\u2019s words. The suit, filed in Price County, WI circuit court, followed a cease-and-desist letter and supporting documentation sent on March 25, 2020. In spite of the letter and documentation, WJFW-NBC continued to run the defamatory ad.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The station owner, for the record, seems a little baffled:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWhy they selected my little station in Northern Wisconsin, I have no idea,\u201d Rockfleet Broadcasting\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1635718\/000092189519000255\/dfan14a12121002_02072019.htm\">President<\/a>\u00a0R. Joseph Fuchs told TPM on the phone Monday. Rockfleet owns three stations including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wjfw.com\/index.html\">WJFW-TV<\/a>, the NBC affiliate in Rhinelander, Wisconsin\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/assets.donaldjtrump.com\/2017\/web\/hero_images\/As_filed_Complaint_against_WJFW-NBC.pdf\">targeted<\/a> by the campaign.\u00a0<em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/talkingpointsmemo.com\/news\/trump-campaign-sues-small-wisconsin-tv-station-over-critical-super-pac-ad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>TPM<\/strong><\/a>]<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Because, Mr. Fuchs, this is how bullies operate. They pick out a little guy who they think can&#8217;t fight back and make an example out of him. In the realm of the law, now they have a precedent they can hide behind. For the record, the press release includes a number of quotes which they believe prove that Trump is being misquoted. I&#8217;ll leave that for a court to decide.<\/p>\n<p>But I think <em><strong>Priorities USA<\/strong><\/em>, the creator of the ad, should double down by <strong>enhancing<\/strong> the ad. As I detailed <a href=\"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2020\/04\/02\/why-any-trump-supporter-should-stop-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>, add in the following information:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Trump&#8217;s remark that he &#8220;always knew this was a serious pandemic&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>The dates and sizes of campaign rallies prior to that remark (I do not believe he&#8217;s held any since).<\/li>\n<li>Tote them up for a grand total of his supporters that he&#8217;s <em>intentionally endangered.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The sputtering would be impressive.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Trump Campaign wasn&#8217;t kidding when it sent a cease and desist letter to television stations carrying this add: Donald Trump issued a cease and desist letter to stop our ad from running because he doesn\u2019t want Americans to know the truth about his failed leadership.
