{"id":27112,"date":"2019-12-26T11:48:41","date_gmt":"2019-12-26T17:48:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/?p=27112"},"modified":"2019-12-26T11:48:41","modified_gmt":"2019-12-26T17:48:41","slug":"misconceiving-your-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2019\/12\/26\/misconceiving-your-job\/","title":{"rendered":"Misconceiving Your Job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Right here in Minnesota we&#8217;re having a Presidential Primary in March of next year, and the Republican ballot has been <a href=\"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2019\/11\/04\/right-here-in-minnesota\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">restricted to a single name<\/a>. Jim Martin is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.votejimmartin.com\/raw\/bills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">unhappy<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[The Republican central committee] interpreted the new [Minnesota] law to mean that it has the power to choose which name will be printed on its political party&#8217;s ballot, and (more importantly) whose will not<sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.votejimmartin.com\/raw\/bills\/#fn_3\" name=\"#fnbl_3\">[3]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0despite the desire of other candidates to politically associate with its related political party<sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.votejimmartin.com\/raw\/bills\/#fn_4\" name=\"#fnbl_4\">[4]<\/a><\/sup>.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.house.leg.state.mn.us\/hrd\/pubs\/mnpresprim.pdf#page=7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">For the first time<\/a>\u00a0since we obtained statehood in 1858, we Minnesotans are unable to politically associate with the candidates who are seeking our support. In other words, you and I must first obtain the express permission of the central committees in order to advance the nomination of a candidate seeking to be elected!<\/p>\n<p>But, it gets worse. As an absentee voter, I will receive and turn in my ballot early. As the candidate I desire to advance might not be printed on the primary ballot I receive, I will have to write-in that candidate&#8217;s name. However, the central committee is not required to inform anyone what names will be canvassed until about a month\u00a0<i>after<\/i>\u00a0I submit my ballot. In other words, I don&#8217;t have any way of knowing if my vote will be counted at the time I cast it!<\/p>\n<p>Our longstanding history of a healthy and honest republic is damaged; our democracy is breaking down; the walkway has been paved for an egregious Soviet-style election process; and,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.votejimmartin.com\/letters?letter=2019-11-03_trump_literally_purchased_his_spot_on_our_election_ballot\">as I demonstrated earlier<\/a><sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.votejimmartin.com\/raw\/bills\/#fn_5\" name=\"#fnbl_5\">[5]<\/a><\/sup>, the corrupt election practices allowed by this law is openly taking place.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And he&#8217;s filed a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.votejimmartin.com\/raw\/bills\/2019-12-13_MN_petition.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lawsuit<\/a> with the Minnesota Supreme Court. When I first discussed it, I skipped over this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.startribune.com\/minnesota-republican-party-leaves-trump-challengers-off-presidential-primary-ballot\/564160782\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">quote<\/a> from Minnesota Republican chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMy job as Chairwoman is to make sure we deliver our 10 electoral votes to the President.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s really indicative of the second-raters who now run the machinery of the Republicans that they believe their job is to support President Trump in his reelection campaign, rather than give the Republican Party&#8217;s base the opportunity to select the best candidate available, whether his or her name is Trump, <a href=\"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2019\/08\/26\/presidential-campaign-2020-joe-walsh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Walsh<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2019\/09\/10\/presidential-campaign-2020-mark-sanford\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sanford<\/a>, or Weld. Right now the Republican upper echelons appear to be a bunch of terrified mice, ready to do anything their master directs, rather than actually think about what&#8217;s best for country and party.<\/p>\n<p>What does Carnahan fear? That Trump isn&#8217;t the big winner in Minnesota that he should be, if we&#8217;re to believe the polls? Or that if other, serious candidates appear, the base might look at them and decide they&#8217;re tired of the rampant incompetency and corruption of Trump and pick someone else?<\/p>\n<p>Or even just make him look bad by winning more than 10%?<\/p>\n<p>Carnahan looks like a fool. She really should retract her statement and her position. Put the other names on the ballot!
