Wheeler, the E.P.A. administrator, represents a victory for the chemical industry and for farmers who have lobbied to continue using the substance, chlorpyrifos, arguing it is necessary to protect crops. &#8230;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"css-exrw3m evys1bk0\">In making the\u00a0<a class=\"css-1g7m0tk\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/earthjustice.org\/sites\/default\/files\/files\/PrePubCopy_9997-06_FR%20Document_Signed_2019-07-18.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">chlorpyrifos ruling<\/a>, the E.P.A. said in a statement that the data supporting objections to the use of the pesticide was \u201cnot sufficiently valid, complete or reliable.\u201d The agency added that it would continue to monitor the safety of chlorpyrifos through 2022.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But is that true? Back in 2017, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/2350d7be5e24469ab445089bf663cdcb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via<\/a> <strong><em>APnews<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The American Academy of Pediatrics urged Pruitt on Tuesday to take chlorpyrifos off the market. The group representing more than 66,000 pediatricians and pediatric surgeons said it is \u201cdeeply alarmed\u201d by Pruitt\u2019s decision to allow the pesticide\u2019s continued use.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a wealth of science demonstrating the detrimental effects of chlorpyrifos exposure to developing fetuses, infants, children, and pregnant women,\u201d the academy said in a letter to Pruitt. \u201cThe risk to infant and children\u2019s health and development is unambiguous.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Democratic nominee for President&#8217;s campaign ads write themselves:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Mothers, President Trump&#8217;s administration prioritized Dow corporate profits over the health of your children.
