Supreme Court Justice Benjamin Cardozo\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/casetext.com\/case\/meinhard-v-salmon\/analysis?citingPage=1&amp;sort=relevance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">once described the standard<\/a>\u00a0of a fiduciary\u2019s conduct to be \u201csomething stricter than the morals of the marketplace. Not honesty alone, but the punctilio of an honor the most sensitive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-elm-loc=\"5\">With the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/powerpost\/amash-accuses-barr-of-deliberately-misrepresenting-muellers-report-to-protect-trump\/2019\/05\/28\/70e4b3ee-8141-11e9-933d-7501070ee669_story.html?utm_term=.a5313ac56b6b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">exception thus far of Rep. Justin Amash<\/a> (R-Mich.), Republicans have taken the position that Mueller\u2019s redacted report has resolved all issues of alleged presidential collusion with the Russians and obstruction of justice. Case closed.<\/p>\n<p>This is not a tenable position. The Mueller report has raised nearly as many questions as it has answered. But more important, as someone who legislatively helped craft the original Office of Special Counsel, I can attest that Congress never intended to subcontract out its investigative powers to the executive branch.<\/p>\n<p><em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2019\/05\/29\/when-will-republican-silence-trump-end\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>WaPo<\/strong><\/a>]<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Senator Cohen has written something a little magisterial, simple language that is yet evocative.<\/p>\n<p>And accurate. It&#8217;s worth a read.<\/p>\n<p>This still doesn&#8217;t constitute a tidal wave of Republican dissension, but it&#8217;s another step along the way.
