{"id":24713,"date":"2019-04-24T08:28:08","date_gmt":"2019-04-24T13:28:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/?p=24713"},"modified":"2019-04-24T08:28:08","modified_gmt":"2019-04-24T13:28:08","slug":"some-patterns-are-good-and-then","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2019\/04\/24\/some-patterns-are-good-and-then\/","title":{"rendered":"Some Patterns Are Good, And Then &#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i><b>Politico\u00a0<\/b><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2019\/04\/23\/white-house-security-clearance-investigators-1287313\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2019\/04\/23\/white-house-security-clearance-investigators-1287313&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1556198429680000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHXZ_Cj8j_ktuFC2A3xLnBGER50-g\">notes\u00a0<\/a>the problems Democrats are having with getting information from the Administration in order to execute their oversight duties:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"gmail_quote\"><p>House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings is moving toward a vote to hold former White House personnel security director Carl Kline in contempt after he refused to comply with a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2019\/04\/02\/house-oversight-committee-approves-subpoena-for-probe-into-white-house-security-clearances-1249332\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2019\/04\/02\/house-oversight-committee-approves-subpoena-for-probe-into-white-house-security-clearances-1249332&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1556198429680000&amp;usg=AFQjCNE33dJHuBVFvRaEgb77pf78oly4bQ\"><u>subpoena<\/u><\/a>\u00a0for his appearance before the committee on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Cummings\u2019 statement came after the White House instructed Kline to not answer questions Tuesday as part of the committee\u2019 investigation into the White House security clearance process. It also sets up what could be the most significant clash between the two branches of government since Democrats took over the House. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt also appears that the White House believes that it may dictate to Congress \u2014 an independent and co-equal branch of government \u2014 the scope of its investigations and even the rules by which it conducts them,\u201d Cummings added. \u201cTo date, the White House has refused to produce a single piece of paper or a single witness in any of the committee\u2019s investigations this entire year.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I think the Administration is running a risk, though.
