An alternative\u00a0<a title=\"Definition\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Definition\">definition<\/a>\u00a0is the entirety of\u00a0<a title=\"Carbohydrate\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Carbohydrate\">carbohydrates<\/a>\u00a0in a\u00a0<a title=\"Cell (biology)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cell_(biology)\">cell<\/a>. The glycome may in fact be one of the most complex entities in\u00a0<a title=\"Nature\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nature\">nature<\/a>. &#8220;<a title=\"Glycomics\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Glycomics\">Glycomics<\/a>, analogous to\u00a0<a title=\"Genomics\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Genomics\">genomics<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a title=\"Proteomics\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Proteomics\">proteomics<\/a>, is the systematic study of all\u00a0<a title=\"Glycan\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Glycan\">glycan<\/a>\u00a0structures of a given cell type or organism&#8221; and is a subset of\u00a0<a title=\"Glycobiology\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Glycobiology\">glycobiology<\/a>.<em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Glycome\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Wikipedia<\/strong><\/a>]<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Noted in &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/article\/mg24132230-300-move-over-dna-lifes-other-code-is-more-subtle-and-far-more-powerful\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Move over, DNA.
