{"id":2185,"date":"2015-09-21T17:10:18","date_gmt":"2015-09-21T22:10:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/?p=2185"},"modified":"2015-09-21T17:10:18","modified_gmt":"2015-09-21T22:10:18","slug":"the-iran-deal-roundup-ctd-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2015\/09\/21\/the-iran-deal-roundup-ctd-25\/","title":{"rendered":"The Iran Deal Roundup, Ctd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now the onus is on Iran to begin implementing <a href=\"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2015\/09\/02\/the-iran-deal-roundup-ctd-24\/\" target=\"_blank\">the deal<\/a>, as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.al-monitor.com\/pulse\/originals\/2015\/09\/iran-sanctions-congress-nuclear-aleppo-siege-madaya.html\" target=\"_blank\">noted <\/a>by <i><b>AL Monitor<\/b><\/i>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The next JCPOA benchmark is \u201cadoption day,\u201d <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1876968639\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Oct.18<\/span><\/span>, when Iran must begin to make changes in its nuclear infrastructure in compliance with the JCPOA, working with the International Atomic Energy Agency. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.state.gov\/r\/pa\/prs\/ps\/2015\/09\/247017.htm\" target=\"_blank\">US officials<\/a> this week summarized what needs to happen before sanctions are lifted, including \u201ctaking out thousands of centrifuges and putting them into IAEA-monitored storage [at the Natanz enrichment facility) \u2026 taking out a very large amount of infrastructure, specifically some of the pipework and electrical infrastructure that allows for the enrichment process to work; \u2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&amp; etc &#8211; an impressive list.\u00a0 They finish with,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Only when Iran takes these and other steps, including a report from the IAEA on the past military dimensions of Iran\u2019s nuclear program, does the process shift to the next benchmark, \u201cimplementation day,\u201d when certain sanctions are lifted. Implementation day is expected to take place in spring 2016, but could be longer, or even never. It all depends on Iran.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The <i><b>Tehran Times <\/b><\/i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tehrantimes.com\/Index_view.asp?code=249479\" target=\"_blank\">reports<\/a>,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>It is thought unlikely that international sanctions will be lifted before next year. The timing depends on when Iran meets its commitments and the IAEA confirms Iran has resolved all outstanding issues with the agency.<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And <i><b>The Iran Project <\/b><\/i>suggests the deal <a href=\"http:\/\/theiranproject.com\/blog\/2015\/09\/20\/iran-daily-iaea-head-in-tehran-for-talks-on-implementation-of-nuclear-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\">isn&#8217;t quite done yet<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Speaking with reporters <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1876968640\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Saturday<\/span><\/span> [presumably September 19 &#8211; Hue], the Supreme Leader\u2019s top aide, Ali Akbar Velayati, was cautious about the confirmation of the deal by Iranian officials: \u201cI should say that the nuclear negotiations have not ended yet since the legal authorities should still make a decision about it, and it is still soon to make any comments before the legal authorities declare their decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Velayati noted the ongoing review by Parliament: \u201cThis will continue until we come up with definite results and we hope that the Islamic Republic of Iran\u2019s interests and expediencies will be met in this trend.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now the onus is on Iran to begin implementing the deal, as noted by AL Monitor: The next JCPOA benchmark is \u201cadoption day,\u201d Oct.18, when Iran must begin to make changes in its nuclear infrastructure in compliance with the JCPOA, working with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
