{"id":2162,"date":"2015-09-19T13:07:04","date_gmt":"2015-09-19T18:07:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/?p=2162"},"modified":"2015-09-19T15:41:53","modified_gmt":"2015-09-19T20:41:53","slug":"profitable-prisons-ctd-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2015\/09\/19\/profitable-prisons-ctd-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Profitable Prisons, Ctd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Senator and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is using his position to attack <a href=\"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2015\/06\/26\/profitable-prisons-ctd-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">private prisons<\/a>, as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/2015\/09\/17\/bernie_sanders_declares_war_on_the_prison_industrial_complex_with_major_new_bill\/\" target=\"_blank\">noted<\/a> by <em><strong>Salon<\/strong><\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Bernie Sanders just\u00a0made good on an early campaign promise and introduced a bill in the Senate to outlaw what he called the \u201cmorally repugnant\u201d practice of incarcerating Americans in private prisons and called for the reduction in the nation\u2019s prison population.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, the Vermont independent introduced <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sanders.senate.gov\/download\/summary-of-justice-is-not-for-sale-?inline=file\">The Justice Is Not for Sale Act<\/a> which bars the federal government from contracting with private companies.\u00a0Sanders\u2019 bill was introduced as a part of a package of legislation sponsored by\u00a0Reps. Ra\u00fal M. Grijalva of Arizona, Keith Ellison of Minnesota and Bobby L.
