In\u00a0<a class=\"m_7827843482968145734gmail-twitter-timeline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dni.gov\/files\/documents\/Newsroom\/Testimonies\/2018-ATA---Unclassified-SSCI.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/www.dni.gov\/files\/documents\/Newsroom\/Testimonies\/2018-ATA---Unclassified-SSCI.pdf&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1523139213813000&amp;usg=AFQjCNG7l8r-kYMiOOEJ9iXeVVu-fGZVRA\">congressional testimony<\/a>\u00a0and related statements, intelligence community leaders have made clear\u2014despite the president\u2019s rhetoric to the contrary\u2014that there is no daylight between the intelligence community\u2019s intelligence assessment in the current administration and that of the prior administration. In the national security community, that continuity is expected; but as part of the greater public dialogue, it is notable and important to highlight.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I view the continuity as important in the following ways.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>It indicates the intelligence community has not been terribly compromised by President Trump.<\/li>\n<li>It indicates the intelligence community is relatively undisturbed by changes in the political world, such as exchange of control of the White House. This indicates to me that they are non-partisan<\/li>\n<li>It may provide information &#8211; eventually &#8211; on why President Trump continues to deny their conclusions, and that may be incriminating &#8211; politically or even within the justice system &#8211; evidence for removing this incompetent amateur from this important position.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Professor Cordero goes on to address\u00a0<i><b>WikiLeaks<\/b><\/i>:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"gmail_quote\"><p>As far as I know, consistent with practice, the U.S. government has not ever confirmed publicly whether it has an open counterintelligence investigation of WikiLeaks, although the Washington Post\u00a0<a class=\"m_7827843482968145734gmail-twitter-timeline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/national-security\/fbi-prepares-for-new-hunt-for-wikileaks-source\/2017\/03\/07\/28dcb9e0-0356-11e7-ad5b-d22680e18d10_story.html?utm_term=.0447fa7ea3e2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/national-security\/fbi-prepares-for-new-hunt-for-wikileaks-source\/2017\/03\/07\/28dcb9e0-0356-11e7-ad5b-d22680e18d10_story.html?utm_term%3D.0447fa7ea3e2&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1523139213813000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFjZmR9ReKacDYy0RRWtV5sGeUL-g\">reported last spring<\/a>\u00a0that \u201cthe FBI has spent years investigating WikiLeaks\u2026\u201d and continued to do so in the context of the exfiltration of sensitive CIA hacking tools.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the U.S. intelligence community has made specific statements about WikiLeaks\u2014without really saying what it is, who funds it, who controls it and how it obtains information it releases. This makes it difficult for the public to accurately understand how to interpret WikiLeaks\u2019 activities and releases.
