The fins replicate the owl&#8217;s evenly spaced bristles, and also disrupt surface pressure on the aerofoil, reducing the sound waves it produces. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The best-performing fins cut noise by a factor of 10 compared with finless aerofoils.
