In Pennsylvania, where the PA Supreme Court found the state has been gerrymandered<\/a> in favor of the GOP<\/strong><\/em>, and then issued its own map, the GOP<\/em><\/strong> has lost its latest appeal to SCOTUS<\/strong><\/em>. From<\/a> CNN<\/strong><\/em> today:<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court has denied a request from Pennsylvania Republicans to block new congressional maps that could tilt several key races in Democrats’ favor from being used in the midterm elections.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0court issued one sentence to reject the request<\/a>. There were no noted dissents.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Dissents may be noted if a minority of the justices wished to take on the case – here’s an example<\/a> of Thomas and Gorsuch registering a dissent. The fact that SCOTUS<\/strong><\/em>, with a 4-4 ideological cast, with 1 swing vote, turned down a plaint from the GOP<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0without dissent suggests they think the PA Supreme Court did not break any rules, despite the wailing and gnashing of teeth – or that it’s up to the people of Pennsylvania to put it right. Which is within the possibilities, since PA Supreme Court justices are elected<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since it appears the Pennsylvania GOP<\/strong><\/em> is more or less without shame, I suspect there’ll be more maneuvering.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
