A decedent is a person who is no longer living, although the word itself means “one who is dying,”\u00a0according to Merriam-Webster.\u00a0When a decedent is a legitimate\u00a0taxpayer<\/a>,\u00a0all of his possessions become part of his\u00a0estate<\/a>, and he or she becomes denoted as a decedent, or deceased.\u00a0Just because decedents have passed, they\u00a0still have the legal power to effect financial transactions and other preparations of their estates\u00a0if they have conducted\u00a0estate planning<\/a>\u00a0before they died.
