{"id":13279,"date":"2017-12-13T17:33:57","date_gmt":"2017-12-13T23:33:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/?p=13279"},"modified":"2017-12-13T17:33:57","modified_gmt":"2017-12-13T23:33:57","slug":"some-remain-sane","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2017\/12\/13\/some-remain-sane\/","title":{"rendered":"Some Remain Sane"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In case you thought every member of the Republican Party is batshit-insane, this guy seems reasonable &#8211; term-limited Nevada governor Brian Sandoval. <a href=\"https:\/\/thenevadaindependent.com\/article\/sandoval-wants-to-go-out-like-a-lion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">From<\/a>\u00a0an interview in <em><strong>The Nevada Independent<\/strong><\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Sandoval, a Catholic, said he had not evolved on abortion \u2013 he has always been pro-choice. \u201cAt the end of the day, I believe that decision is up to a woman\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s her body, it\u2019s her decision.\u201d And on gay marriage, where he said he has changed his mind, he said, \u201cMy best friends are gay. They deserve to be happy, they deserve to have the partner of their choice\u2026.That\u2019s where I am now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When I asked him why he opposed pot legalization when an argument could be made that gambling is even more addictive, Sandoval said he had never smoked marijuana but believed it to be a gateway drug. \u201cI have had the benefit of serving as a judge, and when I did my sentencings, marijuana was almost always involved as a gateway.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Reminds me of the better Republicans of 30 years ago.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In case you thought every member of the Republican Party is batshit-insane, this guy seems reasonable &#8211; term-limited Nevada governor Brian Sandoval.
