{"id":13190,"date":"2017-12-04T20:25:54","date_gmt":"2017-12-05T02:25:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/?p=13190"},"modified":"2017-12-04T20:25:54","modified_gmt":"2017-12-05T02:25:54","slug":"the-refutation-is-right-there-in-the-white-house-lawyers-mouth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/huewhite.com\/umb\/2017\/12\/04\/the-refutation-is-right-there-in-the-white-house-lawyers-mouth\/","title":{"rendered":"The Refutation Is Right There In The White House Lawyer&#8217;s Mouth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been laughing all day at this silly-ass assertion that the President <em>cannot be obstructing justice<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>John Dowd, President Trump&#8217;s outside lawyer, outlined to me [Mike Allen]] a new and highly controversial defense\/theory in the Russia probe: A president\u00a0<em>cannot<\/em>\u00a0be guilty of obstruction of justice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The &#8220;President<\/strong><strong>\u00a0cannot obstruct justice<\/strong>\u00a0because he is the chief law enforcement officer under [the Constitution&#8217;s Article II] and has every right to express his view of any case,&#8221; Dowd claims.<em>\u00a0[<a href=\"http:\/\/www.axios.com\/exclusive-trump-lawyer-claims-the-president-cannot-obstruct-justice-2514742663.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Axios<\/strong><\/a>]<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Dowd is suggesting the President has no standards to live up to as chief law enforcement officer.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>BUT<\/em>\u00a0<em>THIS IS THE OPPOSITE OF THE FACT OF THE MATTER<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Law enforcement is ideally always held to a <strong>higher<\/strong> standard than the general citizenry. Because they&#8217;ve been permitted special powers as law enforcement personnel, they are also expected to adhere to standards that the rest of us need not.<\/p>\n<p>In essence, no, Dowd, the President is not permitted to attempt to influence possible future cases. Not of Hillary Clinton. Not of himself.<\/p>\n<p>And he most certainly <strong>may not<\/strong> use those powers to stop investigations into this own behaviors. That is <em>inherent<\/em> in being a law enforcement officer.<\/p>\n<p>And it&#8217;s all in your own words, Dowd.
