Petrology has three subdivisions, igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary petrology. Igneous and metamorphic petrology are commonly taught together because they both contain heavy use of <a title=\"Chemistry\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chemistry\">chemistry<\/a>, chemical methods, and phase diagrams.
