But in this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.esa.int\/Our_Activities\/Observing_the_Earth\/Copernicus\/Sentinel-1\/Sentinel_satellite_captures_birth_of_behemoth_iceberg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=http:\/\/www.esa.int\/Our_Activities\/Observing_the_Earth\/Copernicus\/Sentinel-1\/Sentinel_satellite_captures_birth_of_behemoth_iceberg&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1500071860908000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHgb5m01Aije8I648llLt3b-ON2ug\">report <\/a>from the <i><b>European Space Agency <\/b><\/i>(<i><b>ESA<\/b><\/i>), I found this chunk interesting:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"gmail_quote\"><p>The loss of such a large piece is of interest because ice shelves along the peninsula play an important role in \u2018buttressing\u2019 glaciers that feed ice seaward, effectively slowing their flow.<\/p>\n<p>Previous events further north on the Larsen A and B shelves, captured by ESA\u2019s ERS and Envisat satellites, indicate that when a large portion of an ice shelf is lost, the flow of glaciers behind can accelerate, contributing to sea-level rise.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Which naturally leads to the question, <i>How fast! How fast! Does Miami go under next week?<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Equally seriously, does this affect the Emperor penguins, the stars of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/March_of_the_Penguins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en&amp;q=https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/March_of_the_Penguins&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1500071860908000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGuOeEUkD0HK2rWo0ZQrzICvb-l7g\">this documentary<\/a>?
